My humble beginnings started by growing up in a family of eight children in the city of Detroit. Dad worked as an automobile assembly line worker and Mom was a stay-at-home mother. She loved caring for her family. All that changed when my mom became very sick and was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. She never recovered after surgery and died at the age of 43. I was only 17 when I lost my mom. We had limited life insurance and were not prepared financially. At this point I made it my passion to educate myself and others on financial literacy. As a Doctor of Education, I devote my time to teaching financial literacy to college students, high school students, small businesses, my community and corporations. I believe everyone should have access to personal finance. Throughout my 36 years in the financial services industry, I have conducted over 1000 financial workshops. I believe financial literacy is helping others to possess the skills, knowledge and behavior to make informed decisions regarding money.
